W Fort Lauderdale has announced the appointment of Cody Bertone to the position of general manager.
In his new role, Bertone will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including guest satisfaction, driving optimal efficiency and profitability, and fostering a workplace that drives growth and inspires its talent.
Bertone joins W Fort Lauderdale from his most recent role as general manager of Virgin Hotels New Orleans, where he oversaw its grand opening and led its rise to a #1 ranking on TripAdvisor out of 183 New Orleans hotels in just seven months.
Bertone’s early career saw him serve as a housekeeping manager at the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in Florida’s Panhandle. Soon after, he relocated to Louisiana where he spent the next five and a half years gaining experience across roles and hotels from evening hotel manager at Loews New Orleans to director of operations at Omni Royal Crescent New Orleans to director of rooms at Renaissance Baton Rouge.
In 2016, Bertone returned to Florida to serve as director of guest services on the opening team for Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort followed by director of rooms for the opening of the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort Orlando.
In 2016, the Bayou State beckoned once more and Bertone returned to take the helm as opening general manager and regional director of operations at Pontchartrain Hotel New Orleans, which, under his leadership, consistently earned top rankings and awards including a place as the top hotel on Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
Cody Bertone commented: “I have a passion for hotels that like to live boldly with a luxury slant. W Hotels is an iconic and highly regarded brand that’s just that, so joining the team and creative minds behind it was something I couldn’t pass up. “I’m eager to work hand-in-hand with the hotel’s ownership and leadership team to further shape it as a destination for trailblazers and trendsetters to enjoy the W lifestyle.”
